01The problem

The magnet is always on.

An MRI scanner’s magnetic field stays on around the clock, even when the room is empty. Anything ferromagnetic that gets too close can be pulled in with dangerous force.

That’s why standard cleaning carts, mop buckets, and vacuums aren’t allowed in Zone IV, the magnet room. Environmental services teams are trained to stop at that line, and they should.

Quick wipe-downs between patients still happen. But the deep clean needs equipment that’s safe in the room: inside the bore, the coils and pads, the patient table, the vent covers, and the top of the housing. Without it, those surfaces often go without one.

    MR Safe and MR Conditional tools only

    Every tool we bring into Zone IV is MR Safe, or MR Conditional and used within its conditions. Nothing ferromagnetic goes in.

    No vacuum motor in the magnet room

    Motors contain magnets, so the motor never comes in. Our MR-safe vacuum runs on a long non-metallic hose, and the canister stays outside Zone IV.

    Disinfectants matched to your scanner

    We choose disinfectants to match the scanner manufacturer’s cleaning guidance for your equipment.

    Visits are booked in advance for your downtime, evenings and weekends, so patient schedules stay as they are.

01What is a walkthrough?

A visit to see your rooms before we quote. We look at the magnet room (and your CT room or lead aprons, if you want those included) and talk through your scanning schedule. Then we send you a written quote. Every job is priced this way.

02When do you work?

After hours. Visits are scheduled in advance around your scanning downtime, usually evenings and weekends.

03How long does a room take?

It depends on the room: its size, the equipment in it, and how many coils and positioning aids there are. We’ll give you a time estimate after the walkthrough.

04Are you insured?

Yes. Fully insured.
